Writing retreat in September!

Stip-HF invites you to our first writing retreat this fall. It will be a daytime event running over three days in Bergen: September 27th, 28th, and 29th!

What is a writing retreat?

A writing retreat is a set period of time where you put aside all responsibilities of your regular work life and focus only on writing. A writing retreat removes a lot of the really good excuses we place in the path of our writing as it creates a container for just that. When participating in the writing retreat, you will work individually on your own text in a group setting structured by a fixed schedule. Furthermore, a writing retreat is an excellent way to connect with new and old colleagues and discover that we’re all in the same boat!

What do I get by participating in Stip-HFs writing retreat?

Professor Laura Miles will join us during the three days to host a half-day workshop to which you’re invited (day and time TBA). In the workshop, Laura will focus on different stages in the writing process hoping that it can spark some joy and motivation into the way we experience and think of writing. Furthermore, the workshop will also seek to give you hands-on strategies to tackle specific difficulties in your writing.

Even though a writing retreat should get you as far away from your responsibilities as possible, we acknowledge that not all PhDs can be away from home in the evening. Therefore, we have decided on hosting this writing seminar close to home: at Høyden from 08.00 to 16.00 Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Participants will receive an email a week in advance with specific information on location, relevant practicalities as well as preparations.

Stip-HF will fuel you during the three days: coffee, snacks, and lunch will be provided for free for all participants.

Registration and deadlines

You can sign up for the writing retreat here. The registration deadline is Wednesday September 21st.
