  3. Election
  4. Feedback and suggestions

What does Stip-HF do, and why should you run for election?

Stip-HF is an interest committee for PhDs at the Faculty of Humanities. Our goal is to ensure that the PhD-candidates at HF have the best possible time, both academically and socially, while employed. Furthermore, we promote our group’s interests and views in relevant cases.

As a member of the Stip-HF board you’ll get valuable experience hosting academic events, such as the topic day. We facilitate activities such as writing retreats, topic days, pay day drinks and shut up and write-sessions.

Being a member is also a great way to get to know and work with colleagues from different fields. An ordinary Stip-HF member counts 40 hours of duty work per semester, while being a chair or secretary counts 80 hours.

Interested in joining us?

The board is selected at our general meeting. Stip-HF is to be comprised of three to six members, with representatives from as many units of the faculty as possible. All Ph.D. candidates at HF hold a vote at the general meeting, and the members of Stip-HF are elected for one year at a time at the general meeting. The new Stip-HF will select its leader and secretary in their constitutional meeting.

If you’d like to join Stip-HF, you can express your interest personally at the general meeting. If you wish to join but cannot attend the meeting, you can send a few lines about your motivation to stip-hf@uib.no, which we will share with those present at the meeting or get another Ph.D. candidate to present you.
